In pursuit of the program’s fifth consecutive ACC title this weekend in Rome, Georgia, the top-seeded UNC women’s tennis team rolled past No. 4 seed Virginia in Saturday morning’s semifinals by a score of 4-1.
The Tar Heels took an early lead after winning the doubles point, then went ahead 3-0 after victories in singles competition by Fiona Crawley (6-2, 6-1) and Reilly Tran (6-3, 6-0).
Virginia managed to score a point with a win on Court Two by No. 9 ranked Natasha Subhash over UNC’s No. 24 Cameron Morra (7-6, 6-3).
Senior Makenna Jones then sealed the deal for the Tar Heels with a 7-6, 6-4 victory on Court Four over Virginia’s Hibah Shaikh.
UNC is now 25-0 this season and has won its last 14 matches at the ACC Championships.
