The No. 1 UNC women’s tennis team remained undefeated in conference play on Friday, with a 5-2 road win over the No. 25 Virginia Cavaliers.
With the victory, the Tar Heels improve to 18-1 overall this season with a perfect 6-0 record against ACC opponents.
For the 19th time in 19 tries, UNC also took the doubles point to begin the match–giving the Tar Heels a 1-0 lead before the beginning of singles play once again.
Virginia (10-4, 4-3 ACC) then took the lead with a pair of singles wins, before UNC stormed back to win each of the next four with strong performances from Sara Daavettila (6-3, 6-3), Jessie Aney (7-5, 6-0), Makenna Jones (6-4, 6-2) and Alexa Graham (6-2, 7-6).

The Tar Heels will return home for Sunday’s match, when they host Clemson at 1 p.m.
