UNC senior Sara Daavettila earned her fourth ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor on Tuesday, after guiding the top-ranked Tar Heels to a 7-0 victory over Wake Forest last Friday.
Daavettila–the nation’s No. 2 ranked singles player–took down the Demon Deacons’ Carolyn Campana in straight sets. Campana is ranked No. 15 in the country.
So far this season, Daavettila has registered five wins over opponents ranked in the top 25 on the way to a 15-1 record overall in singles competition.
The Tar Heels posted an undefeated regular season by going 23-0 overall and 13-0 inside the ACC.
UNC is the top seed in this week’s ACC Championship tournament and will face either Wake Forest or Syracuse in Friday’s quarterfinals.
