UNC senior Sara Daavettila was selected Wednesday as the ACC Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, after guiding the Tar Heels to a win over No. 9 Duke last Friday.
Daavettila paired with teammate Cameron Morra to help deliver the doubles point to UNC, before moving to singles competition and defeating Duke’s No. 9 ranked Kelly Chen in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
This marks Daavettila’s second ACC Player of the Week award of the season.
She shares the ACC weekly honor this week with Miami’s Estela Perez-Somarriba, who won three matches last week without dropping a set.
The Tar Heels are currently No. 1 in the country and have won an ACC-record 35 consecutive dual matches in a streak that includes a perfect 18-0 record in the shortened 2020 campaign.
UNC returns to action on Friday with a road match at Virginia Tech.
