Through 36 holes at the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke, the UNC men’s golf team sits comfortably in second place–one shot off the lead–after having four players finish the round below par.
The Tar Heels shot 8-under-par as a team on Saturday, to put their team score at 10-under-par for the tournament. Penn State sits in first place with a score of 11-under-par.
Third-place Duke is eight shots behind UNC at 2-under-par, while Florida State at 1-under-par sits fourth.
Ryan Gerard has an individual score of 4-under-par for the Tar Heels, while freshmen Ryan Burnett (-3) and Dougie Ergood (-2) are right on his tail.
Rounding out the UNC players under par is junior Austin Hitt at 1-under-par.
The third, and final, round of the tournament will be played early on Sunday.
