UNC and men’s golf head coach Andrew DiBitetto have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension which will keep DiBitetto in Chapel Hill through 2029, the school announced Wednesday.

The 2026-27 season will be DiBitetto’s 10th as head coach of the Tar Heels. During his tenure, DiBitetto has led the Tar Heels to 27 team tournament titles, four top five NCAA Championship finishes and has won three ACC Coach of the Year awards. Individually, Tar Heel players have won 23 tournaments, earned 20 All-America nods and taken home both ACC Player of the Year and National Player of the Year honors.

“Under Andrew’s leadership, Carolina men’s golf has established its status as one of the top programs in the country,” said UNC athletic director Steve Newmark. “He has recruited and developed outstanding players and students and has worked hard to maintain a positive and collaborative culture with the players, alumni and supporters. His teams win tournaments each year, excel academically and his players are having success in the professional ranks.”

UNC finished first in the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship in 2022 and 2023 and advanced to the match play round in four consecutive years from 2021-24, becoming just the third team ever to advance to match play four straight times. DiBitetto took home the ACC Coach of the Year award in 2022, 2023 and 2024, becoming just the second coach in league history to win the award three years in a row.

Under DiBitetto’s leadership, the men’s golf program has posted 10 consecutive years of perfect 1000 Academic Progress Rate scores, the longest such active streak among men’s teams at UNC. His tenure has also seen the school invest heavily in improvements to Finley Golf Club, the home course for the Tar Heels. Finley began an extensive renovation in 2021, eventually reopening in late 2023. The renovation is estimated to have cost $13.5 million and included an altered layout and two entirely new holes. After initial renovations were complete, Finley hosted an NCAA men’s regional in 2024 and a women’s regional in 2026. The club also sports a new team building, practice putting greens and cart roads.
