The UNC men’s golf team won on home turf during the weekend, taking first place in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Club. Carolina’s David Ford also won first place on the individual leaderboard, tying a school record with his seventh career tournament win.

Ford finished seven-under par, four strokes ahead of second place. His twin brother Maxwell tied for third place at two-under par. As a team, the Tar Heels trailed Kennesaw State by four strokes entering Sunday’s final round, but moved past the Owls and held off Elon to take the title. UNC finished one-under par, one stroke ahead of the Phoenix and two strokes ahead of Kennesaw State.

David Ford is now tied with former Tar Heel Dustin Bray at the top of the school’s all-time leaderboard with seven titles. Ford has won five titles during this season alone.

As a team, UNC has won two titles this season and 24 in the last eight seasons under head coach Andrew DiBitetto. This is the sixth straight season the team has won multiple titles.

UNC will be back in action when it competes in the ACC Tournament, which begins April 24 in Bowling Green, KY.
