UNC had a total of 10 athletic programs honored by the NCAA on Wednesday for ranking among the top 10 nationally in Academic Progress Rate in their respective sports.

It marks the highest number of programs recognized among all public institutions in the ACC, and ties the University of Michigan for most programs recognized among all public schools in the Power Five conferences.

Academic Progress Rate–or APR for short–measures a team’s academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation. This year’s awards are based data ranging from 2013-14 to 2016-17.

UNC teams that were honored include: men’s tennis, men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s soccer, women’s tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, women’s lacrosse and women’s fencing.

Stanford led all schools in the nation with 17 programs in the top 10 in America, followed by Notre Dame (13), Boston College (12), Northwestern (12), Duke (11) and the Tar Heels.
