
Final standings for this season’s Learfield Sports Directors Cup were released Friday, with UNC finishing 13th overall–marking the 19th consecutive year the Tar Heels have ranked among the top 15.
The Learfield Directors Cup is a competition that rewards schools based on NCAA postseason competitive success across a maximum of 19 sports, with four of those sports required to be baseball, volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
Leading the way for the Tar Heels over the last school year were the men’s soccer, field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams that each reached the NCAA semifinals.
Baseball earned points for a fifth place finish at the College World Series, while women’s soccer and both tennis teams took home ninth-place rewards.
Other sports to score points for UNC include: Men’s golf (15th place), men’s basketball (17th), wrestling (20th), women’s indoor track and field (23rd), fencing (24th) and women’s swimming and diving (25th).
Stanford won the Directors Cup title for 24th consecutive year. UCLA, Florida, Southern California, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M round out the top 10.
