UNC announced Tuesday that it has named Marielle VanGelder–currently an associate director of athletics–as its new Senior Woman Administrator.

VanGelder has led the school’s compliance department since 2013–helping to develop policies and procedures, implementing rules education initiatives, supervising all monitoring and auditing systems, and playing a role in the administration of UNC’s grant-in-aid program.

Prior to her time at UNC, she served in compliance for 10 years at UCONN.

“I am grateful to [UNC director of athletics] Bubba Cunningham for the opportunity to serve Carolina’s student-athletes, coaches and staff in this new role,” VanGelder said. “I look forward to representing UNC as SWA at the campus, conference and national level, and to supporting the continued academic and athletic success of our programs.”
