VolleyballMag.com released its 2020 Girls Fab 50 list on Monday, with UNC freshman Kaya Merkler among those who were selected.

An elite panel of NCAA Division I head coaches votes on the list, selecting the top 50 senior players in the country and 25 underclassmen to watch.

Merkler is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School who enrolled at UNC in January after helping the Tigers win the 2019 NCHSAA High School 3A State Championship, where she won MVP honors along the way.

She is a two-time All-State selection as a middle hitter who totaled a whopping 1,421 kills throughout her high school career.
