The UNC volleyball team opened its spring season on Thursday night at Carmichael Arena with a 3-0 victory over Appalachian State (25-15, 25-14, 25-13).
With an incredible .466 hitting percentage, the Tar Heels dominated each of the three sets as they improved to 7-2 overall with the results from the fall carrying over to the spring. That number marks the best hitting percentage the program has had since a 2017 win at Virginia.
Parker Austin led UNC with nine kills in the match, while Skyy Howard added eight kills and six blocks.
Appalachian State was held to a .071 hitting percentage and committed 22 errors compared to just five for the Tar Heels. The Mountaineers fell to 1-15 with the loss.
