The UNC baseball team wrapped up play in the Cambria College Classic in Minneapolis on Sunday with a thrilling come-from-behind win over the Purdue Boilermakers–as Clemente Inclan’s walk-off double in the 10th inning gave the Tar Heels a 6-5 victory.

It was the Tar Heels’ first win in three tries against Big Ten opponents over the weekend, after dropping games against Minnesota and Iowa on Friday and Saturday.

UNC (8-4) trailed 4-0 heading into the seventh inning on Sunday against Purdue (6-4), but managed to close the gap to just one run after scoring three times in the home half of the seventh courtesy of a two-run homer by Joey Lancellotti and a pinch hit RBI single from Tyler Causey.

The Boilermakers then added a fifth run in the top of the eighth before the Tar Heels responded with RBIs from Will Schroeder and Patrick Alvarez to tie things up.

After Kyle Mott shut Purdue down in the final two innings, Inclan stepped up in UNC’s half of the 10th inning to deliver the game-winning double and ensure the Tar Heels would not go winless on their trip up north.

“We’ve been knocked down a little bit, but that is just baseball,” head coach Mike Fox said afterwards. “We have lost a couple of tough ones, but we have to get back up and keep fighting. I learned a lot about my team today. After last night, it was tough, and we had our backs against the wall today, but we were able to respond. I am just so proud of our team.”
