The UNC baseball team dropped its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, falling to Georgia Tech by a score of 10-6.

It didn’t take long for the Yellow Jackets (28-21, 21-15 ACC) to pick up where they left off on Friday night with the bats, scoring three times in the second inning, six more in the third and another in the fourth

Johnny Castognozzi had an RBI single in the second inning for the Tar Heels (26-24, 18-18 ACC) but the team still found themselves trailing 10-1.

A lead-off home run by UNC center fielder Justice Thompson in the top of the fifth frame started a small Tar Heel comeback attempt, while a sacrifice fly by Castognozzi in the sixth helped the team inch closer as well.

The Tar Heels got a two-run homer from Angel Zarate and an RBI double from Mac Horvath in the ninth inning, but by then it was too little, too late.

Georgia Tech and Miami are the top two teams from the ACC Coastal Division this season, while UNC ends the regular season third in the division after winning the tiebreaker over Virginia.
