Sophomore right-hander Austin Love was absolutely dominant on the mound Thursday night in Atlanta, throwing his second straight complete game and striking out a career-high 15 batters to lead UNC to a 3-2 victory over Georgia Tech.

Love also didn’t walk a single batter and allowed just two runs on eight hits total, as the Tar Heels (26-22, 18-16) won their fifth straight game overall.

Kevin Parada drove in both runs for Georgia Tech (26-21, 19-15 ACC) in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run single, but UNC would come back to tie the game with runs in both the fourth and fifth frames.

An RBI double by Brett Centracchio brought the Tar Heels within one run, while Johnny Castognozzi’s solo shot tied things up.

Centracchio then broke the 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth inning when he grounded out with the bases loaded and only one out–scoring Caleb Roberts and putting UNC on top for the first time all night.

With only three outs remaining, Georgia Tech had nothing for Love as the UNC star struck out all three Yellow Jackets he faced in the bottom of the ninth to finish off his stellar performance.
