After leading the UNC men’s lacrosse team to an improbable ACC Tournament Championship over the weekend, junior attacker Chris Cloutier was named the National Offensive Player of the Week by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Although the Tar Heels entered the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed–and with just a 6-7 record–Cloutier scored six goals and dished out three assists over the course of UNC’s two wins in Durham.

First was a 16-15 upset over top-ranked Syracuse in the semifinals, followed by a convincing 14-10 victory over No. 6 Notre Dame in the championship game.

Cloutier was named the ACC Tournament MVP for his efforts, which also guaranteed UNC would earn an NCAA Tournament bid and a chance to defend last year’s national title.

The Ontario native now has 102 points over his career in Chapel Hill.
