UNC senior Brittany Pickett and redshirt junior Kristina Burkhardt were each selected to the Preseason All-ACC softball team on Wednesday, while the Tar Heels were picked to finish fourth in the conference in 2020 according to a vote by the league’s head coaches.

Florida State was projected to win the league for the seventh year in a row, followed by Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.

Pickett, an All-ACC First Team selection last season as a pitcher, started 34 games for the Tar Heels and pitched nine out of the bullpen in relief. This included an ERA of 2.02 and a total of seven shutouts. As a hitter, she hit seven home runs in 2019 and led the team with a .603 slugging percentage.

Burkhardt was also an All-ACC First Team selection a year ago as an outfielder after hitting .304 with four doubles, five home runs and a team-high six triples.
