Out on its first road trip of the season Thursday night in Seattle, the No. 2 UNC women’s soccer team had to dig deep in order to remain undefeated.

The Tar Heels rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the second half to steal a 3-2 victory over the host Washington Huskies–using a goal by Washington native Madison Schultz in the 71st minute to provide the difference.

In addition to Schultz’s heroics, UNC also received goals from Ru Mucherera and Bridgette Andrzejewski. In addition, sophomore Brianna Pinto contributed two assists to the winning cause.

As a result, the Tar Heels move to 3-0 to begin the 2019 campaign. Washington drops to 0-1-2 with the loss.

The game was part of the Husky Invitational, so UNC will stay in Seattle to take on Portland this upcoming Sunday at 2:30 p.m before returning home to Chapel Hill.
