Three wins down, with three more to go for UNC sophomore William Blumberg–who defeated Vanderbilt’s Cameron Klinger in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) on Friday in Winston-Salem to advance to the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Tournament Quarterfinals.

Blumberg fought hard to win the first set, before winning five consecutive games to close out the second set and the match.

As a result, the Connecticut native inches closer to repeating his performance from last year as a freshman–when he advanced all the way to the NCAA Championship match before coming up just short.

Next up for Blumberg is a battle on Saturday against Wake Forest’s Borna Gojo, one that will be played on the latter’s home court in a matchup between two of the top players in the ACC this season.
