Prior to falling in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Tournament later on Saturday evening alongside teammate Robert Kelly, UNC sophomore sensation William Blumberg suffered a crushing three-set loss to Wake Forest’s Borna Gojo (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) in the NCAA Singles Tournament Quarterfinals.

Blumberg appeared to be in control of the proceedings after winning the first set, but ultimately dropped the final two to see his season–and his 14-match winning streak–come to an end.

Prior to the loss, Blumberg was 2-0 in his career against Gojo.

The Connecticut native ends the season with a 21-4 record in singles competition, while coming up two wins shy of repeating his performance from last season–when he was the NCAA runner-up as a freshman.
