The quest for the first the program’s first ACC Men’s Tennis Tournament title since 2002 ended with a thud Sunday afternoon at the Cary Tennis Center for the No. 2 seed Tar Heels–which found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the top-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
UNC drops to 22-5 this season after the loss, with two of the five defeats coming at the hands of the Demon Deacons (25-2).
Wake Forest took the doubles point to begin the match, which also represented the first time the Tar Heels had lost in that portion of the match since the last time the two sides met back on March 28.
The Demon Deacons then swept the first three singles matches to take the conference crown, leaving UNC empty handed.
