Mauricio Pineda and Jelani Pieters each scored Tuesday night to lead the No. 14 UNC men’s soccer team to a 2-0 shutout victory in Chapel Hill over the visiting UNCW Seahawks.

The Tar Heels struck first in the 15th minute on a penalty kick by Pineda, before Pieters beat his man one-on-one and curled the ball inside the back post just over four minutes into the second half–adding all the insurance the team would need to hold on for the win.

As a result, the Tar Heels improve to 5-2-2 in 2019, while the Seahawks fall to 4-4-1.
