The Tewaaraton Foundation recognized former UNC star goalie Tom Sears on Friday as one of its annual Tewaaraton Legend honorees.

Sears was honored alongside former Delaware star Karen Borbee.

The Tewaaraton Legends award is one that is given to standout college lacrosse players who played before 2001, which is when the Tewaaraton National Player of the Year award started being handed out.

Sears was one of the best goalies of all-time for the Tar Heels, helping the school when two national titles–and earning the USILA’s C. Markland Kelly Award as Goalie of the Year and winning the Enners Award as Player of the Year in 1982.
