UNC senior forward Luke Maye was among 20 players selected Thursday to the watch list for this year’s Karl Malone Award, which has been handed out in each of the last four years to the top power forward in college basketball.
Maye had a breakout campaign last year in his first season as a starter, posting career-highs of 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in 2017-18–while shooting 43 percent from behind the three-point line.
In addition, the Huntersville native was a First Team All-ACC and Third Team All-American selection.
Previous winners of the Karl Malone Award include: Deandre Ayton, Arizona (2018), Johnathan Motley, Baylor (2017), Georges Niang, Iowa State (2016) and Montrezl Harrell, Louisville (2015).
