The ACC announced Tuesday that UNC senior forward Giovanni Montesdeoca was named the league’s Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Montesdeoca scored a pair of goals in the second half of UNC’s 3-0 shutout victory over No. 4 Pittsburgh this past Friday. The first came on an assist from teammate Jonathan Jimenez to give the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead, while the next came on a penalty kick later in the half.
The Dallas native leads the Tar Heels with three goals and seven total points this season.
UNC is 4-3-2 this season when including results from the fall. The Tar Heels are scheduled to return to action on Saturday when they host Virginia.
