UNC senior Daniel McArthur was selected as the Southeast Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year on Tuesday by the USTFCCCA, for his outstanding work in the shot put event.

McArthur–a native of Mooresville, NC–won the 2021 ACC Championship in shot put with a throw of 20.67 meters. That throw set a new all-time UNC record and was good enough for fourth place nationally for the season.

He has been the ACC shot put champion in each of the last three years and was named the Men’s Field MVP following this year’s ACC meet.

McArthur will be competing in the NCAA Track and Field Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
