Entering the year as the favorites to win the ACC in the league’s Preseason Field Hockey Poll released on Friday, UNC also placed a whopping four players on the Preseason All-ACC team for the sport.

Seniors Ashley Hoffman, Malin Evert and Eva Van’t Hoog join incoming freshman Erin Matson on the All-ACC roster, which is composed of just 11 players.

Matson, who comes to Chapel Hill as one of the nation’s top freshmen, is the only one of the 11 Preseason All-ACC selections who was not named an All-American at the end of last season.

The team was decided upon in a vote by the league’s seven head coaches.

Duke and Louisville, with two selections apiece, were the only other schools to have more than one player named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
