The ACC released its preseason field hockey poll on Friday, with UNC picked by the league’s seven head coaches to win the conference once again.
Each of the last nine seasons has ended with the Tar Heels making a trip to at least the NCAA Semifinals, as head coach Karen Shelton has built a powerhouse program that doesn’t find itself on the wrong end of the scoreline very often.
UNC received six of the seven first-place votes in the preseason poll, while Duke and Louisville were picked to finish second and third, respectively.
All seven ACC schools finished last season among the nation’s top 15 teams.
