For the sixth time this season, UNC junior forward Erin Matson was selected Tuesday as the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
Matson scored each of the Tar Heels’ final three goals this past Sunday in a 4-3 win over Syracuse in overtime. This gives her a hat trick and an overtime game-winner in UNC’s last two games.
She has scored 11 of UNC’s 15 total goals during the spring portion of the schedule, and has the Tar Heels sitting at 15-1 heading into a critical showdown against Wake Forest on Friday–where the winner earns the ACC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Matson and the Tar Heels are seeking their third consecutive national championship.
