A phenomenal defensive performance lifted the UNC volleyball team to an easy 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-17, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon at Carmichael Arena over the visiting Clemson Tigers.
The Tar Heels (11-11, 8-4 ACC) tallied 15 blocks in the match, while holding the Tigers (10-13, 4-8 ACC) to a paltry hitting percentage of just .014.
Destiny Cox was the top offensive performer for UNC with 11 kills, while Skyy Howard led the defensive charge with a team-high eight blocks.
This marked the Tar Heels’ third consecutive sweep in matches they’ve played on Sundays.
“I loved how we came out really focused in the first set,” head coach Joe Sagula said afterwards. “The challenge with a great start is momentum shifts. We were down 7-3 in the second set and came back and refocused. Most importantly, we came in with a really good focus, playing poised and confident early that was the difference for us.”
