Brianna Pinto’s goal in the 71st minute on Thursday afternoon in Durham provided all the scoring the top-ranked UNC women’s soccer team would need, as the Tar Heels held on down the stretch to earn a 1-0 victory over the LSU Tigers in the Duke/Nike Classic.

UNC improved to 5-0 this season with the win, while the loss dropped LSU’s record to 2-2-1.

The goal was Pinto’s team-high fourth of the season and came when she sent home a a pass from teammate Rachel Jones.

For the game, the Tar Heels racked up 19 shots compared to just four for the Tigers in yet another dominant display to begin the 2019 campaign.
