Baseball America released its annual Preseason Top 25 on Monday, with UNC coming in to the new year ranked No. 5 in the nation.
This is the highest the Tar Heels have been ranked in any of the preseason rankings so far.
UNC is one of five teams from the ACC among the poll, joining No. 6 Florida State, No. 11 Louisville, No. 14 Clemson and No. 22 Duke.
Regular season play will officially begin on Feb. 15 for the Tar Heels, who will host Xavier in a three-game series at Boshamer Stadium.
