The UNC women’s basketball team was unable to string together its second consecutive ACC victory on Sunday, as they fell on the road to the Miami Hurricanes by a score of 76-68.

Guard Stephanie Watts had 22 points and 15 rebounds for her first double-double in over two years, but it would not be enough to keep the Tar Heels (10-9, 1-4 ACC) in the win column.

Miami (16-4, 4-1 ACC) took control of the game right from the get-go with a 21-0 run in the first quarter that had the home side ahead 27-8 after just 10 minutes of action.

The Hurricanes maintained a similar 21-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, which kept UNC from being able to mount a serious comeback.

A 16-2 UNC run sparked by Watts and guard Leah Church helped head coach Sylvia Hatchell’s team pull within seven points late in the game, however Miami’s lead proved to be too much to overcome.
