Another talented player in the Class of 2023 has committed to play for head coach Courtney Banghart. Laila Hull, a four-star forward from Zionsville, IN, announced her commitment to the Tar Heels Tuesday night.

Hull chose UNC over finalists Maryland, Marquette, DePaul and Boston College.

ESPN rates Hull as a four-star prospect and grades her as a 91 overall, though she does not appear on its latest ranking of the Class of 2023. She is the fourth member of that class to commit to Banghart and the Tar Heels, joining five-star center Ciera Toomey, four-star guard Reniya Kelly and four-star forward RyLee Grays.

As a junior at Zionsville High School last season, Hull dominated the low post. She averaged a career-high 20.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. In three total seasons will Zionsville, she is averaging 17.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, along with 2.2 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.4 blocks.

“Hull is an exceptionally talented forward who has all the tools to be playing the game at a high level for years to come,” wrote ProspectsNation.com. “The touch on her jump shot combined with her ability to get to the rim is impressive.”

“It was just a good fit. I think deep down I always knew I was gonna go there,” Hull said of UNC on Tuesday. “It’s been my dream school since I was a kid… when I was there, it just felt like home.”
