The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Orange County until 7 a.m. Thursday.

The latest update from the NWS in Raleigh at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday saw a major shift to the west in the forecast, which caused the advisory to be issued for Orange County.

The forecast is now calling for 2-3 inches of accumulation possible throughout Orange County.

Chapel Hill town staff worked throughout Wednesday to take precautionary steps, including brining roadways.

More than 1,700 customers in Hillsborough spent part of Wednesday night without power, according to Duke Energy. The first outage was reported just before 8:15 p.m. There is no estimation for power to be restored. Hillsborough Police reported that power lines are down on Eno Street.

No power outages were reported throughout Orange County as of 5:30 Thursday morning.

Chapel Hill officials are reporting that there are multiple traffic collisions on Wednesday night as road conditions are deteriorating.

Chapel Hill Transit will stop operating at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and will operate on a delay Thursday due to “rapidly deteriorating conditions.”
