Schools across central and eastern North Carolina will be opening on a delay or be closed altogether on Friday due to Hurricane Dorian.

Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools, Chatham County Schools, Durham Public Schools and Orange County Schools will all be operating on a two-hour delay on Friday. Most schools across the area either closed or dismissed early on Thursday ahead of the storm’s impact.

Many schools in the eastern portion of North Carolina are closed Friday.

The storm has spent several days slowly working its way from the Bahamas to Florida and is now moving up the East coast.

Central North Carolina has seen steady rain throughout Thursday with higher winds and heavier rains expected overnight before the forecast calls for clearing skies on Friday.
