More than 500 customers are without power Monday morning, according to Duke Energy, after a strong line of storms passed through southern Orange County Sunday night.

Most of the remaining outages are focused in the neighborhood between Fordham Boulevard and Erwin Road in Chapel Hill, but there are outages spread across the county.

After initially issuing an estimate that power would be restored by noon, revised estimates now say it will be later in the afternoon and into the evening before power is fully restored.

Most of the outages were first reported shortly before midnight on Sunday night. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for approximately 45 minutes from 11:30 p.m. Sunday to 12:15 a.m. Monday, but storms persisted well into the early morning hours.

More severe weather is possible on Monday afternoon as another storm front is projected to come through central North Carolina.
