6 a.m. Tuesday UPDATE: Duke Energy reported that most outages in Orange County were restored by early Tuesday morning; there were just under 400 Duke Energy customers without power. Piedmont Electric reported that all of the power outages affecting its customers had been restored.

9 p.m. Monday UPDATE: Most power outages have been restored in Orange County. Duke Energy is reporting that just over 400 customers are without power. Piedmont Electric outages were down to single digits.

5 p.m. Monday UPDATE: Monday afternoon saw a portion of the power outages restored across Orange County. Duke Energy reported its current outages at just under 1,000 Monday evening. The number of Piedmont Electric customers without power, meanwhile, was below 100.

12 p.m. Monday UPDATE: Work to restore power outages on Monday has slowed after some early morning snow throughout Orange County. Duke Energy is reporting more than 1,200 customers remain without power, while there are still more than 400 Piedmont Electric customers without power.

6 a.m. Monday UPDATE: Utility crews are still working to restore all of the power outages in Orange County. Duke Energy is reporting more than 1,400 customers without power in the county and Piedmont Electric says more than 400 of its customers remain without power.

7:45 p.m. Sunday UPDATE: Some power outages are being restored across Orange County. Duke Energy is reporting roughly 1,700 customers without power, while there are just over 1,000 Piedmont Electric customers without power as of Sunday night.

4:45 p.m. Sunday UPDATE: More than 5,300 Duke Energy and Piedmont Electric customers in Orange County are without power. Crews have been deployed across central North Carolina in an attempt to restore those outages.

2:30 p.m. Sunday UPDATE: Between Duke Energy and Piedmont Electric, that are more than 4,600 customers without power in Orange County. Duke Energy makes up the bulk of those at more than 4,3000 customers in the county.

1:30 p.m. Sunday UPDATE: Outages increased to more than 3,600 Sunday afternoon. Duke Energy is reporting that crews are out assessing damage and attempting to repair outages.

12:45 p.m. Sunday UPDATE: There were more than 2,700 Duke Energy customers were without power.

Orange County is under a Winter Storm Warning through Monday evening. Winter Storm Diego dropped several inches of snow across central North Carolina early Sunday morning.

That storm led to 1,459 Duke Energy customers in Orange County losing power as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Piedmont Electric was reporting a small number of outages in the county.

Neighboring Chatham and Durham counties saw a higher number of outages early Sunday.

The storm has led to a significant amount of closings and delays, including school schedules for Monday, December 10.

Duke Energy is reporting that it is waiting for the storm’s full impact before responding to the outages in Orange County. The utilities brought in crews from across the country in anticipation of a high number of outages due to the storm.
