Orange County is under a Winter Storm Warning through Monday evening. Winter Storm Diego dropped several inches of snow across central North Carolina early Sunday morning.
That storm led to 1,459 Duke Energy customers in Orange County losing power as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Piedmont Electric was reporting a small number of outages in the county.
Neighboring Chatham and Durham counties saw a higher number of outages early Sunday.
The storm has led to a significant amount of closings and delays, including school schedules for Monday, December 10.
Duke Energy is reporting that it is waiting for the storm’s full impact before responding to the outages in Orange County. The utilities brought in crews from across the country in anticipation of a high number of outages due to the storm.
