Chapel Hill and Carrboro have reactivated some emergency procedures associated with Hurricane Florence after the last remnants of the storm dropped massive amounts of rain overnight.

Carrboro announced it was activating its Emergency Operations Center in response to flooding from the heavy rain early Monday morning.

Chapel Hill also has a call center established for residents with non-emergency questions.

The rain led to widespread flooding issues and road closures after several inches of rain had already fallen over the weekend from the massive hurricane.

After initially announcing school would operate on a two-hour delay, Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools ultimately closed school for Monday.

Carrboro rescue crews responded to flooding issues at an apartment complex early Monday.

To report block roads, downed trees or live power lines in Carrboro, you can call the EOC at (919) 918-7363 or email florencedamage@townofcarrboro.org. Chapel Hill’s non-emergency phone number is (919) 969-5005.
