As Hurricane Florence’s effects are finally beginning to be felt in Orange County, the slow-moving storm has been ravaging the Carolina coast for days.
Starting Tuesday, September 18, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will be accepting donations of specific relief items at the Williamson Center parking lot. Donations will be accepted through Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Friday – and transported to North Carolinians affected by Florence.
The requested items are as follows:
- Non-perishable food items
- Pop-top canned goods
- Diapers (baby and adult)
- Baby wipes
- Clorox wipes
- Flashlights
- Batteries
- Paper towels
- Water
- Cleaning supplies, such as brooms, mope, buckets, sponges, garbage bags, rubber gloves, etc.
- Personal hygiene items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, gel soap, bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, bandages, etc.
