The stretch of East Carr Street in Carrboro between South Greensboro Street and Maple Avenue will see temporary closures over the next three weeks. The closure will accommodate utility and drainage work associated with the construction of the new library and civic building.
During that time, the stretch of Carr Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. There will be flaggers at each end of Maple Avenue to guide alternating one-way traffic around the work zone. During non-work hours, all of East Carr Street will be open as usual.

The Town of Carrboro is urging all travelers to slow down, be alert and drive with caution through the area.
The work on Carr Street is part of a $42 million development – known as the 203 Project – which will host the Southern Branch of the Orange County Library; the Orange County Skills Development Center; the Carrboro Recreation, Parks and Cultural Resources Department; WCOM Radio and other multipurpose areas. The Town of Carrboro says the project will “provide opportunities for education, art and community connection.”
