***UPDATE: On Sunday evening, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported Shambley had returned home, “safe and unharmed.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help finding a missing local teenager.

A release from the office Friday morning said 16-year-old Jessica Shambley has been deemed a missing person and entered into the National Crime Information Center’s database.

Shambley, who is an Efland resident, was last seen late Thursday morning leaving Cedar Ridge High School. According to the sheriff’s office, she was reportedly in a silver 2012 Ford hatchback with the license plate number RCR-5913.

Authorities describe Shambley as 5-foot-2 and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue-gray eyes. Friday’s release said those who know Shambley are “concerned for her welfare.”
