UPDATE: Shakiya Robinson has been located and is safe.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office put out a call for the public’s help in finding a missing teenager on Thursday.

The office shared a release saying Shakiya Robinson, 16, of Winston-Salem has been missing since September 7. Last seen in Orange County, Shakiya last had contact with her family and adults in her life on September 19 and stopped posting on social media two days ago.

According to the sheriff’s office, Shakiya is 5’9 and weighs around 100 pounds. When she was in Orange County, she wore a red sweatshirt and black leggings. Authorities believe she may have arranged for a ride back to the Winston-Salem area, potentially to be with her grandmother or a good friend in Forsyth County. The release says investigators suspect Shakiya might be with the friend, whose name cannot be released, and that friend’s mother, Lakesha Jones. Jones is no longer associated with any addresses on record nor her former employer.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Shakiya has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing, with her case number as NIC #M455925687. Ashley Woodlief is the lead investigator anyone with information on Shakiya’s whereabouts is encouraged to call her at 919-245-2909.
