UPDATE: Chapel Hill Police shared a release at 8:42 p.m. on Saturday saying Pantzartzis was safely located.


The Chapel Hill Police Department is turning to the public’s help in finding a missing person Saturday evening.

A release from the department, as well as a message from the Orange County-run OC Alerts system, shared that 59-year-old Dimitris Pantzartzis was reported missing earlier in the afternoon. Pantzartzis was last reportedly seen around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Springview Trail and Honeysuckle Road — which is a Chapel Hill neighborhood off Weaver Dairy Road.

Chapel Hill Police described the 59-year-old resident as 5-foot-8 and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and black pajama pants, according to Saturday’s release.

Anyone who may have information on Pantzartzis’ location and wellbeing is encouraged to call the Chapel Hill Police Department through 911. The office number of 919-968-2760 will be less responsive since it is the weekend and the department’s office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Callers can also use the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crimestoppers hotline at 919-942-7515.
