**UPDATE: Chapel Hill Police say Joyce Powell has been safely located.**


The Chapel Hill Police Department is turning to the community for help locating a woman reported missing.

A release late on Thursday night said authorities are looking for 47-year-old Joyce Sharanette Powell, who was last seen at 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Powell was seen in the area of Legion Road and Forsyth Drive, where she lives. The alert from police said she is not believed to be in any danger.

Chapel Hill Police described Powell as a Black woman who is 5-foot-3 and last seen wearing either red or green medical scrubs. The alert said she was likely driving a blue Subaru Forest with the North Carolina tag of RDM-3697, which has a Purdue University sticker on its back window.
