UPDATE: On July 28, Carrboro Police identified recently-discovered human remains as Daishi Tanabe.

The Carrboro Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing man. Daishi Tanabe was last seen at his Carrboro residence on July 13 and is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.

Tanabe is described as a six-foot, three-inch Asian male weighing 275-300 pounds.

The Carrboro police urge the public to call 911 or a local law enforcement agency if they encounter Tanabe. Anyone who has information as to Tanabe’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Carrboro Police Department at 919-918-7397 or Sergeant Trey Kennedy at 919-918-7412.
