The calendar turning to fall always signals the start of a flurry of events across Orange County, including three events that will have folks running across the county over the weekend.
The events start with the Carrboro 10K at 8 a.m. Saturday. The race begins at McDougle Middle School before going through some Carrboro neighborhoods and finishing on the McDougle track. The run is part of the 14th annual Le Tour de Carrboro race series, which has “donated over $400,000 to our community,” according to the event website. More information on the Carrboro 10K is available here.
Meanwhile, in Chapel Hill, the 11th Annual Eve Carson 5K is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. The run honors the legacy of Eve Carson, the student body president who was killed in 2008. Organizers said the run has raised more than $43,000 for the Eve Carson Memorial Scholarship. The race course begins on Cameron Avenue and winds through streets across the UNC campus. Finally, the Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon and 5K is scheduled to get underway at 7 a.m. Sunday. Officials from Hillsborough Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand and close some downtown streets while runners pass through the course.
A party for the participants will also take place in River Park from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday. More information is available on the event website.
