The Town of Carrboro has named Jerry Glenn “J.G.” Ferguson, Jr. as the director of its Recreation, Parks & Cultural Resources Department. Ferguson’s appointment follows a national search.
“I am excited to continue to build upon the outstanding programs, events and facilities currently offered by the Recreation, Parks & Cultural Resources Department,” Ferguson said in a release. “I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know the community while working with staff to provide quality programs, events and facilities to the citizens of Carrboro.”

Ferguson previously worked for the town of Rolesville, N.C., where he spent 11 years as its parks and recreation director and three years as the public works director. The Town of Carrboro described Ferguson as “instrumental in building both departments in response to the exponential [growth] and service delivery demands” in Rolesville.
“J.G. has provided events, programs and facilities that encourage all residents to come together and create positive memories with their families, neighbors and friends,” said Carrboro town manager Richard White. “I look forward to him joining the Town’s Management Team. His experience will serve the Recreation, Parks & Cultural Resources Department and the Town well.”
