The Chapel Hill Town Council is beginning the public process in its search for a new town manager.
Roger Stancil has served in that role for 12 years but announced last November that he is retiring.
Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger said the council is hoping to appoint a new manager in June who would begin work later in the summer.
The town is soliciting information from the public for a variety of questions, including what major challenges face the town, what opportunities should the town work to leverage, what are the most important knowledge, skills and abilities needed in a new manager and what are the most important duties of the town manager.
Chapel Hill held the first meeting specifically to allow for public input on what to look for in a new manager on Sunday. Two more opportunities are coming up Monday, March 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Southern Village and Tuesday, March 6, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Public Library.
