Despite pandemic restrictions, the Town of Chapel Hill will be continuing this year with efforts to help connect members of the community with local government.
Since 2018, the Chapel Hill Peoples Academy has provided residents and visitors an opportunity to learn about town services and operations, connect with town leadership and staff, discuss issues in the community, and develop communication and leadership skills. This year, sessions will be offered virtually over Zoom.
Whether you live, work, or study in Chapel Hill, the town says all members of the community are invited to register until signup closes on Friday, Feb. 19.
The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday in March. Participants, however, are only required to attend and complete three sessions in order to receive a graduation certificate.
The departments holding sessions for the Peoples Academy include the town manager’s office, parks and recreation, Chapel Hill Transit, and more. More information about each of these departments hosting sessions can be found here.
The registration form is available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese and can be found on the Town of Chapel Hill’s website. Simultaneous interpretations for each of these languages will also be available for the Peoples Academy’s sessions in March.
